Transforming Anger and Resistance in the Initial Interview
SPEAKER: Shawn Christopher Shea, M.D.

Objectives:
- Be able to creatively transform angry encounters into meaningful interactions
- Be able to utilize Leston Haven's "counter-projective" technique for deflecting guardedness and suspiciousness
- Be able to utilize content, process, and sidetracking techniques for transforming resistance
- Be able to describe and utilize practical strategies for handling awkward personal inquiries about the clinician's religious beliefs, sexual history, or other questions asked to put the clinician "on-the-spot".
